• Please contact me directly to enquire about fees. This is dependent on how many lessons you prefer per week and the duration of each lesson. I do not charge additional fees for planning time or materials. If lessons will be virtual, I will walk you through the technical requirements to set your student up for success.

  • You can request verification for Carrie Carter (Silver Spring, MD) from Wilson directly, via their website, here.

  • I agree, this is so important! I offer all potential new families a Wilson Assessment of Decoding and Encoding (WADE) free of charge over the period of 1 or 2 meetings. Following the assessment, I will schedule a call with you to discuss your concerns and goals, in addition to my observations during the assessment.

  • Absolutely! I would love to help.

  • Yes. WRS is a Tier 3 reading intervention, intended for students with substantial deficits who do not progress with lesser interventions. If you believe this describes your child, please send me a message and we can discuss whether WRS might be a good fit.

  • WRS is a Tier 3 reading intervention intended for students from Grade 2 through adult.

  • The WRS program consists of 12 Steps (with multiple sub steps) and can take 3+ years to complete. Some families chose to stop WRS prior to the program’s completion. I’m happy to discuss the Scope and Sequence of the program with you, and you can also find it in its entirety here.

  • It is highly recommended that a student in 1-1 WRS tutoring have at least 2-4, 90-minute lessons per week to make steady progress. I do understand that everyone’s situation is different. Please contact me directly and we can discuss what might work for your family while honoring the fidelity of the program.

  • After the initial WADE (Wilson Assessment of Decoding and Encoding), I will analyze the results and determine if you/your student should begin in Substep 1.1 or Substep 1.3. If your child has had some WRS with another instructor, we may start at a later step, depending on the results of the WADE.

(There are 12 total Steps in WRS, with multiple substeps)

  • Orton-Gillingham is an explicit, multisensory approach to teaching reading. WRS is a program based on Orton-Gillingham. Please see this informative document for specific details on differentiation.

  • I’m so glad you’re thinking about this. Let’s schedule a call to discuss WRS in-depth. Once I know a bit more about your needs, I can offer some guidance.

  • Unfortunately, I do not offer diagnostic testing.

I can point you to resources to guide you in understanding how to advocate for testing of your child within the US public school system, as well as the process for getting your child evaluated (US only). Please contact me to discuss.

  • At this time, I offer the WIST (Word Identification and Spelling Test) Assessment. The WIST is a norm-referenced test, so the results will help you understand how your child’s skills compare to their peers for spelling and reading. WIST does not test for comprehension. Please contact me for more details.
